Project Journal -- 08/02/17

Today was the last day for our programme. I thought the previous day was final however our teacher changed it. This time once again I had to set up the wires by myself and set up the headsets for the filming crew. One of the soundmen was not in so I had two roles to do. My role of selecting the music as well as controlling the sound mixer or sound board. It was hard because this was the final show and I could not make any mistakes. I was helped by Chi-Ann who was doing the lights for the first part of the show. Then I managed to get hold of how to control the sound and worked on making everything work smoothly. The music that I should of played disappeared or moved to another folder and I could not find them so I decided that I would use the sample music we used for practice. What I done was a difficult task and I learnt alot from this and benefited a great deal. I believe my performance was beyond exceptional and I hope in the future that I would perform even better.

When editing our live feed I realised that I forgot to backup the files of the audio 2 weeks after we filmed. The reason for this was because when packing up and collecting the wires I was doing it by myself and forgot about the Tascam. This created a big problem for us because i had to look for those files.

Overall my performance was good even when filling in for someone who wasn't present. I worked well when seting up the studio for our live shoot. I think towards the end i should of been more aware of backing up the files. I hope in the future i will do better.

Project Journal -- 07/02/17

Today was the final day for our unit and tv programme. This was our final recording before the next group and post production. I by myself had to setup the wires for the headsets for the cameramen/women and the floor manager and director. I also placed and setup the table mics. When I went into the control room I realised that the channels the mics were on where far apart so I decided to change them to 2 and 3 to make it easy for the sound mixer. When we started everything was running smooth. however the actors were not acting as well enough to deceive the audience of the recordings we showed the audience and camera. When playing the music one of the problems was a delay of the music playing into the studio. The problem was there was silence when the music should've been playing. The sound mixer should of played the music into the studio at the right time. However the played track should of went on but it was delayed sometimes. I believe it was more on me for not preparing. Its very hard to see what is happening because of old cameras in they way.

Project Journal -- 06/02/2017

Today was the day before our final recording. Today what we did was watch the other group prepare for their show and we watched them putting their tripods and cameras in position.  One of the camerawomen was not in so I decided that I fill fallout that role. I then maned the camera and listed to  the person acting as floor manger. It was difficult but I managed. Then I heard that we could film again so I went into the control room to set up. I put everything in place trying to be ready. We had a dilemma because our presenter  did not want to act. So I was confused who I would mic up for his role. After a while I miced up the presenter and decided that i would check the sound. I did a few run throughs of my own to check if the volume was working or not. If placed the table mics on the table. One of the troubling things was being told to do three different things at the same time it caused me to make a few mistakes however I believe I can overcome them for the future. A big problem I had was being the only one checking if the equipment was working or helping the camera crew have headsets. I had to figure a lot of things out and where to put certain things and how to connect the right wires to different places. It was hard when people were constantly nagging me but I believe I did my role well. When the time came to do repeat our practice run show we realised that the actors did not talk in to the mics as told however they did not listen and this became a problem. The music being played had a problem when going into the studio and when it was being turned down.

Project Journal -- 31/01/17

Today we set up for our next shot. A lot of people in my group decided to help set up. We are london decided to film again however they did not have the guest they planned to have. So they filmed first however they were not organised well enough so they took to long to film and many of the members did not know what they were doing. I helped by giving a few suggestions however it was up to them to take it into consideration. I have decided that i would sit back and watch how the show was going along from the control room.
